In the framework of the special exhibition “Forced Labour during National Socialism” the Museum Arbeitswelt Steyr is organising several field trips to various locations all over Austria. On 26 October, in cooperation with the Mauthausen Memorial, a field trip to Gusen has taken place. On this day, 40 participants intensively dealt with the history of the Gusen Concentration Camp. Bernhard Mühleder, staff member of the Mauthausen Memorial, welcomed and guided the group. Following an introduction in the exhibition rooms of the Gusen Memorial, the group used the audio path to explore visible and invisible sights in the town. Thereafter, the group used the opportunity to visit the tunnel system “Bergkristall” in St. Georgen an der Gusen.
