On 24 May 2016, one copy of the “Commemorative Book for the Dead of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp and its Sub-Camps” was handed over to the Austrian National Library. In an official ceremony, the Head of the Mauthausen Memorial, DDr. Barbara Glück handed the book over to the Director General of the Austrian National Library, Dr. Johanna Rachinger.

The „Commemorative Book for the Dead of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp and its Sub-Camps“, a three-volume edition, is the result of one of the most comprehensive research projects implemented by the Mauthausen Memorial so far. For more than ten years, the names and life data of 84,270 prisoners and numerous biographies of such prisoners, who lost their lives at the Mauthausen Concentration Camp and its sub-camps were reconstructed in a large-scale international cooperation. This publication therefore constitutes an important contribution to the research into contemporary history.

The „Commemorative Book for the Dead of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp and its Sub-Camps“ will be included in the collection holdings of the Austrian National Library and its web archive, and thus permanently stored also for the future.
